Future Legends Draft Night In Toronto

The opening ceremonies for the Hockey Hall of Fame Future Legends took place today in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The athletes sat in anticipation as they watched bagpipers march down the aisle in front of the Calder, Vezina, and Hart trophies.

Elliotte Friedman, from Hockey Night in Canada, took over the mic and MC’d – announcing the 12 team rosters for the boys ceremony. The athletes kept Friedman entertained by asking him questions throughout the ceremony. After the boy teams were announced, a combine took place where the athletes were measured and ranked according to their performance. They competed in speed and agility exercises that mimic the muscle groups needed in competitive hockey.

For the girls opening ceremony, 3x Gold Medalist Jennifer Botterill, MC’d the event – announcing the 6 team rosters, while taking questions from the athletes and lending out advice. Botterill had a special surprise for the athletes, bringing out one of her gold medals. The girls combine kicked off after the ceremony, with high energy in anticipation for the weekend ahead.
